2025 Lambtown Festival – Volunteer Needs and Descriptions

Festival weekend: October 4-5, 2025

Volunteers onsite: October 1-6, 2025

Volunteers

Coordinator & Assistant: FILLED
What & When: Recruit and schedule volunteers for festival week. This work begins around May, picks up in June & July, and consumes several hours per week in August & September. Availability during festival week is a must. 

General Volunteers: Open, 30-50 preferred
What & When: Pitch in for as little as three hours wherever needed during festival week from Wednesday through Monday. Tasks may include: info booth, ticket taking, folding shirts, installing signage, general setup & teardown.

Vendors

Coordinator: Brooke Sinnes (Looking to train a replacement)
Assistant: Open, 1-2 preferred
What & When: Solicit, select, & communicate with fiber vendors, food vendors, & non-profit booths. These positions have slow periods and deadline-driven flurries of activity throughout the year. Availability during festival week is a must. 

Vendor Volunteers: Open, 3-5 preferred
What & When: Mark booth layouts and stuff vendor packets on Thursday. Check-in vendors on Friday. Provide bathroom breaks, snack restocks, and general check-ins on Saturday and Sunday.

Workshops

Coordinator: Kira Dulaney
Assistant: FILLED
What & When: Assist with creating or proofreading paperwork including contracts, workshop product listings, confirmation emails, class rosters, student nametags. Attention to detail, mail merge and spreadsheet skills (or aptitude to learn) necessary. These positions have slow periods and deadline-driven flurries of activity throughout the year from February-September. Availability during festival week is ideal. 

Workshop Volunteers: Open, 1-3 preferred 
What & When: Stuff student goodie bags Wednesday afternoon of festival week. Check students in from 8:15-9:45am on Thursday through Sunday, as well as from 12:15-1:45pm on Saturday & Sunday.

Wooly Adventures

Coordinator: Gynna Clemes
Assistant: Open, 1-2 preferred
What & When: Plan and coordinate the preparation of activities for Wooly Adventures, as well as scheduling volunteers to run the WA tent. Most planning takes place in May to June, with volunteer meetings in August & September. Availability during festival week is a must. 

Wooly Adventures Volunteers, pre-festival: Open, 3-6 preferred
What & When: Prepare activities for the Wooly Adventures tent, including cutting, hole punching, assembling kits – at your leisure, in your home. This typically takes place in June through August.

Wooly Adventures Volunteers, festival weekend: Open, 12-24 preferred
What & When: Lead kids & the young at heart in sheep-themed crafts as well as beginning spinning, felting, & weaving projects on Saturday and Sunday.

Marketing, Newsletters, & Social Media

Coordinator & Assistant: Open, 1-3 preferred
What & When: New Position. Create and execute a cohesive marketing schedule across all platforms. Interface with each team for timely deployment of their information. Rijel Lewis currently coordinates Newsletters and Social Media.

Marketing, Newsletters, & Social Media Volunteers: Open, 2-4 preferred
What & When: Assist with photography and videography during the festival.

Website, Graphics, & Database 

Coordinator & Assistant: Open, 1-3 preferred
What & When: New Position. Looking for coordinator & helper(s) to create and maintain a cohesive visual program and information systems for the festival. 

Finance

Coordinator & Assistant: Open, 1-2 preferred
What & When: Compile budget and oversee payments to and purchases for the festival. This position requires attention to detail and, while only a handful of hours most months, several hours a week during budgeting and leading up to the festival. Availability during festival week is a must.

Wool Show & Sale

Coordinator: Angela Clemes
Assistant: Open, 1-2 preferred
What & When: Solicit entries to the wool show, update rules, schedule & contract wool show judge. Facilitate wool show & silent auction. Most planning takes place in April to May, with virtual volunteer meetings in August & September. Availability during festival week is a must.

Wool Show & Sale Volunteer: Open, 6-8 preferred
What & When: Intake wool from producers on Friday afternoon & evening, move & sort fleece on Saturday during judging, conduct silent auction on Saturday and sales on Saturday & Sunday

Sheep Show, Demos, & Education

Sheep Show Coordinator: Andy Edmondson
Assistant: Open, 1-2 preferred
What & When: Solicit entries to the sheep show, update rules, schedule & contract sheep show judge, coordinate sheep dog and sheep shearing demonstrations, and coordinate Meet the Breeds tours or other sheep education in the barns. Most planning takes place in May to June. Availability during festival week is a must.

Sponsors & Grants

Coordinator & Assistant: Open, 1 each preferred
What & When: Solicit & secure sponsorships, grants, and donations to help Lambtown Festival serve its mission while remaining affordable to attendees. This work can be done a few hours at a time throughout the year or in larger chunks of time as deadlines for sponsors and grants approach each year.

Logistics 

Coordinator and assistants: Open, 2-4 preferred
What & When: Help plan and coordinate various aspects of the festival as an assistant to the president. This work is mostly project based and takes place throughout the year. 

Logistics Volunteers: Open, 2-4 preferred
What & When: Help make sure everything is where it needs to be during festival week. Tasks may include installing and removing signage, gophering, and any number of odd tasks to ensure the festival runs smoothly.
