Our Skeins & Textiles competition is a wonderful way to show the creativity and talent of our attendees! As an entrant, you get feedback on your handspun yarn, or the textiles that you’ve crocheted, felted, knitted, or woven. The judge will note what you did well and give ideas for improvement, then award ribbons in various categories. Festival attendees can vote for the People’s Choice award.

Judged by Alanna Wilcox
Alanna Wilcox is a fiber artist, educator, author, and Master Spinner with 20 years of teaching experience. She has taught spinning, color, and dyeing workshops for guilds and festivals across the country, and she brings both the perspective of an instructor and a maker who has submitted her own work for critique and competition. Although this is her first official judging role, Alanna values the educational side of feedback and believes that entering work is an important part of growing as a craftsperson. She is excited to be on the other side of the table, offering the kind of thoughtful, constructive feedback that helps makers build confidence, skill, and artistry.
