Planned Pooling is a crochet technique where you make plaid or striped color patterns with just one variegated yarn. In this class, students will learn how to planned pool stripes and plaids using a two-color indie-dyed yarn while crocheting the Swim Lesson Cowl. You’ll learn tricks for modifying your tension in order to get colors to land where you want them to go, as well as how to use a pooling calculator app or graph paper to sketch out planned pooling charts. After this class, students should have the skills they need to finish the cowl and make a matching headband. You’ll also learn how to approach and start a planned pooling project with more colors, and feel excited about all the possibilities.
Workshop Tent
Note: All classrooms are on the Dixon May Fairgrounds, 655 S 1st St, Dixon, CA, and students will get free admission on the day of their workshop(s).
Intermediate Level Skills Students should be comfortable with crochet moss stitch (also known as linen stitch or seed stitch: sc, ch 1).

Daniela Wellisz has been exploring how to make planned pooling understandable, accessible, and available to the indie-dyed yarn community for the past two years. She has taught planned pooling to classes and individuals, and also wrote a pattern that successfully taught the technique. Coming from a background of software and math, Daniela got her start planned pooling by writing an app to make pooling charts, which is available on her website at app.frog2tog.com. She professionally uses the name frog2tog because of the amount of stitch ripping-out involved in making a planned pooling pattern come together.
We have flat rate pricing workshops, with up to two low-income spaces per session*. Materials fee, if any, is included in the price paid at the time of registration.

Admission tickets – including the Wool on Wheels busses – are transferable but not refundable. Lambtown Festival will be held rain or shine.
Workshops can be cancelled with at least four weeks’ notice for a full store credit if you set up an account in our system, or a refund minus 15% cancellation fee. At any time, students may find a replacement to take their space – email [email protected] to let us know the name and email of the person taking your place.
Merchandise purchased through this website is custom made for each order. As such, no cancellations or refunds are available. If you are unhappy with the quality of the print, please contact Printful customer service for a replacement.
Camping fees are not refundable. Lambtown Festival will be held rain or shine.
