Learn basic use and techniques of a blending board from one of its designers! In 2011, Henry and Roy Clemes created a new tool that became the wildly popular Blending Board. This hands-on class will not only demonstrate the versatility of the blending board – blending fibers of various types, lengths, and colors – but also the strength of the blending board – quickly preparing fiber as rolags for woolen spinning. All blending will be done on Clemes & Clemes Blending Boards with each student using their own board. All materials, boards, and tools will be provided by the instructor.

Note: All classrooms are on the Dixon May Fairgrounds, 655 S 1st St, Dixon, CA, and students will get free admission on the day of their workshop(s).

An attitude for learning and note taking implements of their choice. Videos are allowed as long as recording is not disruptive to other students and videos are not published on the internet. Students may bring a blending board or fiber if they have questions about them, but students will use the boards and fiber provided by the instructor.
Roy grew up working in his family’s woodshop and is a master craftsman and fleece snob. He attends fiber festivals around the country to consult and instruct spinners, felters, fiber growers, and professional fiber artists in the art of fiber preparation. His family’s business is now in its sixth decade of operation, having shipped fleece and fiber art equipment around the world. Roy frequently contributes to PLY Magazine and is the president of Lambtown Festival, the largest sheep and wool show in California. He and his family live in the SF Bay Area with their spinners flock of two sheep.
We have flat rate pricing workshops, with up to two low-income spaces per session*. Materials fee, if any, is included in the price paid at the time of registration.

Please note: We will not disclose which students received low-income pricing and all students will be treated equally by Lambtown Festival and our instructors.
Admission tickets – including the Wool on Wheels busses – are transferable but not refundable. Lambtown Festival will be held rain or shine.
Workshops can be cancelled with at least four weeks’ notice for a full store credit if you set up an account in our system, or a refund minus 15% cancellation fee. At any time, students may find a replacement to take their space – email [email protected] to let us know the name and email of the person taking your place.
Merchandise purchased through this website is custom made for each order. As such, no cancellations or refunds are available. If you are unhappy with the quality of the print, please contact Printful customer service for a replacement.
Camping fees are not refundable. Lambtown Festival will be held rain or shine.

There are currently no Covid-19 restrictions on events of our size. We advise all students to take any precautions they deem necessary for their own safety in consideration of Covid-19. Vaccinations are not required to enter the fairgrounds but are highly encouraged for the safety of all our attendees. Hand sanitation and/or wash stations will be located throughout the fairgrounds, along with restrooms.
