In this hands-on, beginner drum carding class, students will make two batts using a variety of basic techniques and tools. Students will work on both hand crank and motorized carders to create woolen and worsted preparations from fleece. Students who are timid about using their carder at home will leave with working knowledge and confidence in their drum carding abilities. All materials, carders, and tools will be provided by the instructors.

Location

East Classroom Building Room 3

Note: All classrooms are on the Dixon May Fairgrounds, 655 S 1st St, Dixon, CA, and students will get free admission on the day of their workshop(s).

Experience Level

No Experience Necessary We recommend Exploring the Drum Carder or at least some drum carding experience before taking Adventures in Drum Carding. We do need to keep the class moving as we process several batts throughout the day, and we find students with little or no experience tend to work at a slower pace. However, you will still be able to learn and understand the concepts even if you do not finish all of the work in class.

Materials instructor will supply for students

All fiber, carders, and tools will be provided by the instructors.
