Natural Color - Dyeing Protein Fibers with Raw Dyestuffs and Extracts with Brooke Sinnes

Workshop Description: In this class we will review all the steps necessary to get strong, lasting color derived from plants and bugs. While we will not be alum mordanting in class a handout will be provided with instructions on how to mordant that we will go over in class. Pre-mordanted yarn will be provided along with raw dyestuff and natural dye extracts for students to do dyeing in their own home. This class is suitable for those that have never dyed before or those that have done some dyeing but would like a review.

Students have the opportunity to watch each video multiple times as they work through the techniques or simply soak up the expert advice.
