Pick Up on the Rigid Heddle Loom with Sharlet Elms

Location: Dixon May Fairgrounds in Dixon, CA


Workshop Description: Have you ever wanted to weave a lacy scarf or towel but only have a rigid heddle loom? Do you feel that the rigid heddle loom is too limiting? This class will teach you how to use a pick up stick to increase the range of possibilities in your weaving. Come enjoy the magic of pick up to add lace weaves to your repertoire.


Experience Level: Must know how to warp a rigid heddle loom by the peg method


Students Should Bring: Rigid heddle loom*, 8 dent heddle, 1 pick up stick, 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn with a minimum of 200 yds per skein, warping peg, heddle hook, scissors, tape measure.

*A limited number of looms are available to rent for $20.

Materials Fee: $5 included in workshop price

Instructor Bio: Sharlet is a weaver of over 20 years experience. She started and continues to mentor a weaving study group for her guild as well as teach private students and offer workshops. Sharlet is also an instructor for Rumpelstiltskin's Yarn Shop in Sacramento.
