Workshop Description: Explore the wide range of possibilities with three of the most basic and popular fiber preparation tools: a Flicker, the Lock Pop, and Hand Cards. Newly minted fiber artists and seasoned veterans will discover new ways to process (or re-process) fleece, batts, braids, and more. Students are encouraged to bring their own tools and/or problem fibers should they have them but the instructor will supply equipment and fiber for all students.


Experience Level: No experience necessary


Students Should Bring: Any flickers, hand cards, or teasing tools they want to work on. Any problem fibers they would like advice on regarding fiber preparation. Portable spinning device of their choice for sampling – wheel, drop spindle, or e-spinner.


Instructor will supply: All materials and fiber processing tools


Materials Fee: $40 included in workshop price


Workshop Pricing: This year’s workshop pricing is a flat rate for half-day or full-day workshops, with up to two low-income spaces per class*.

Instructor Bio: A lifelong woodworker and small business owner, Henry has been building fiber art equipment for almost 50 years and drum carders for over 40 years. He and his son have introduced many innovations to the fiber arts community and their equipment is known for being not only thoughtfully engineered but visually pleasing and durable as well. They regularly consult and instruct spinners, felters, fiber growers, and professional fiber artists in the use of drum carders for fiber prep.
